MOBILE, Ala. - University of South Alabama track and field will host its second annual Holiday Track and Field Clinic, Wed., Dec. 9, at Jaguar Track from 3:15 p.m. - 5:15 p.m.
The clinic is open to student-athletes ages 10 and up, as well as local high school and junior high school track and field coaches for $10 per person. Coaches and student-athletes will receive instruction and learn drills in various track and field events, including pole vault, block start, hurdles and shot put, as well as weightlifting techniques and distance training philosophy and injury prevention.
"This is the second year we're offering the clinic for the area coaches and athletes," USA head coach Paul Brueske said. "We're just trying to promote the sport in Mobile and the surrounding area, and gain more awareness for the proper training and technique in the different events in track and field. I think it's good exposure for our program.
"One of my goals as a head coach here is to not only be successful as a track program, but to also promote the sport in the surrounding area. I want to build up the level of high school track here in Mobile."
