MOBILE, Ala. ? University of South Alabama head football coach Joey Jones announced that Jon Griffin has signed a National Letter-of-Intent, making him the 10th junior-college player to commit to the program.

In fact, he’s the seventh offensive lineman in the group that has signed with the Jaguars.

A 6-foot-2, 280-pound native of Ventura, Calif., Griffin played the last two seasons at Ventura Junior College.  Last season the Pirates finished 5-5 overall, which included a 5-3 mark in the Western State Conference, as his efforts helped the offense average 350.4 yards of total offense and 28.7 points per contest.

As a freshman, Griffin and VJC won the conference championship as they would go on to claim the Southern California Bowl title.

All 10 transfers will begin class Monday and take part in spring practice, which is slated to start in February.
