USA MEN'S TENNIS FALLS TO UNO IN SEASON OPENER AT HOME

MOBILE, Ala.?The University of South Alabama men’s tennis team dropped a tough loss to University of New Orleans, 5-2, at home Sunday.

“We had explosive doubles matches today,” Head Coach Nicolas Brochu said, “but when we went into singles play we just were not dominant.”

The 59th-ranked Jaguars had a strong start in doubles. The duos of Marek Sramek/Romain Bocaert (9-7) and Sergio Remirez/Leo Dominguez (8-4) both picked up wins for South Alabama.

The Privateer tandem of Oliver Chuthill and Vinay Kamineni were able to defeat USA’s Hano Bartsch and Aaron Krisan 8-4.

The only singles victory of the day was won by Leo Dominguez against UNO’s Ben Smith 6-0, 7-5. Sramek, Bocaert, Bartsch, and Krisan were all defeated by their Privateer counterparts.

The Jags will face Nicholls State at home on Jan. 26 at 2 p.m.
