USA JAGUAR AJOKE ODUMOSU QUALIFIES FOR 4X400M RELAY FINAL IN BEIJING

BEIJING ? Former USA track & field All-American Ajoke Odumosu ran for Nigeria in the 4x400m relay Friday morning, becoming the first female jaguar to compete for a medal in the Olympics.

 

After not making it past the 400m semifinals, Odumosu kept hopes of winning an Olympic medal alive after helping Nigeria run a qualifying time of 3:24.10 in the first round of the 4x400m relay. The Nigerians placed fourth in their heat behind the United States, Jamaica and Belarus. They will be joined in the final by Germany, Russian Fed., Cuba and Great Britain.

 

Odumosu is on a squad of eight who will try to medal tomorrow evening. The Nigerian squad includes Gladys Stephen, Agnes Osazuwa, Joy Amechi Eze, Oluoma Nwoke, Folashade Abugan, Oludamola Osayomi, Endurance Abinuwa and Odumosu.
