BOCA RATON, Fla. ? The No. 49-ranked South Alabama women’s tennis team picked up a dominant, 6-1 victory Saturday afternoon over fellow Sun Belt Conference member Florida Atlantic at the de Hoernle Center on Lynn University’s campus to run its record to 17-3 this spring.
USA will close out the regular season against No. 53 Florida International on Sunday at 10 a.m. (Central) at University Park. FAU falls to 3-16 on the season with the loss.
The Jags, as they have done in all but one of their matches this season, opened the match by picking up the doubles point over the Owls. USA had little trouble with Florida Atlantic in doubles action, capturing an 8-0 victory from Michaela Babicova and Katie Welch at No. 2, while the Jag duos of Adrianna Solarova/Sylvanie Spangenberg (No. 55) and Jelena Krivacevic/Erica Krisan, each defeated their FAU counterparts, 8-2, at the Nos. 1 and 3 spots, respectively.
South Alabama continued its dominant performance in the singles portion of the match, picking up straight set wins in five of the six singles matches.
