MOBILE, Ala. ? The South Alabama women’s tennis team continued its dominant spring performance and remained perfect Saturday afternoon with a 5-2 victory over Louisiana-Lafayette at the Bruce David Lubel Memorial Tennis Courts.
USA (10-0) will next host Middle Tennessee on Sunday at 11 a.m. The Ragin’ Cajuns fall to 9-4 on the season with the loss.
For the 10th time this season, South Alabama came out and took the doubles point, picking up wins at the Nos. 1 and 3 positions, before ULL was able to take the No. 3 spot.
Leading 1-0 in the match heading into singles competition, the Cajuns took a 2-1 match lead when Myrthe Molenveld and Briggitt Marcovich picked up straight set wins at the Nos. 3 and 5 spots. USA bounced back though and took the remaining four singles competitions en route to the victory. Adrianna Solarova, Michaela Babicova and Jelena Krivacevic were straight set winners for the Jags, while Katie Welch outlasted her Cajun opponent to finish off the match with a three set victory.
