TRACK TEAMS GEAR UP FOR THE 2008 ALABAMA RELAYS IN TUSCALOOSA

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. ? The South Alabama men’s and women’s track and field teams will travel to Tuscaloosa, Ala., this weekend to compete in the Alabama Relays at the Sam Bailey Track and Field Complex. The four-day meet is the Jaguars’ first of three relays events during the outdoor season. The Jaguars will begin their competition Saturday March 29, at 8 a.m. with the men’s hammer throw.

There will be a total of 62 schools sending athletes to the meet, including a host of USTFCCCA-ranked teams and one other Sun Belt Conference team, Arkansas State.

The men’s team will be short one man this weekend. Micah Tirop, who won the 10,000 meters in last year’s Alabama Relays, is out due to injury, but is expected to return for the next meet. Coming off the injured list is all-conference hurdler Christophe DuMee, who will run the 110 high hurdles on Saturday. In last year’s race, he finished in eighth place.

On the women’s side, Jessica Miller, who placed sixth last year in the 400 hurdles will run the women’s 800 meters. Lady Jaguar Clarisse Moh will also run with Miller in the women’s 800 meter run.
