LOUISVILLE, Ky. ? The 58th-ranked University of South Alabama women’s tennis team continued its stellar spring performance Saturday afternoon when they picked up a 5-2 victory over Houston at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center on the University of Louisville campus. The Cougars entered the match riding the momentum of an upset victory of No. 40 Louisville on Friday, but the Jags made quick work of UH on Saturday.
USA (13-1) will now take on Louisville at 10 a.m. on Sunday at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center. Houston falls to 11-8 on the spring with the loss.
In the double portion of the match, South Alabama came out and made quick work of their Cougar counterparts, outscoring them 24-4 in the three matches to take the early 1-0 match lead.
The singles competition was just as strong for the Jags as Adrianna Solarova (6-3, 6-4), Erica Krisan (6-2, 6-2), Sylvanie Spangenberg (6-4, 6-0) and Jelena Krivacevic (6-3, 6-4) each picked up straight set wins to seal the match for the Jags. For Solarova, it was the Jag senior’s 12th win on the spring. Krivacevic, playing at the No. 6 spot also remained perfect in dual match play (11-0) with her win on Saturday.
