USA FOOTBALL TO FACE TENNESSEE IN 2013

MOBILE, Ala. ? University of South Alabama Director of Athletics Joe Gottfried announced Wednesday that the Jaguars have signed a contract to play the University of Tennessee during the 2013 season.

The Jags will travel to Knoxville, Tenn., to face the Volunteers on Nov. 9 that fall.  The contract is for a single game.

“When you look at South Alabama football, Tennessee is where we want to be in the long run.  It’s exciting to know that that start-up program is going to be playing Tennessee in five years,” stated USA head coach Joey Jones.  “These are the types of schools that we want to play in the future.  Even though the game is years away, it’s a great step for us on our way to becoming a big-time program.”

USA is also slated to play Navy in a four-game, home-and-home series that is also set to begin in 2013.  Other future opponents as well as the 2009 schedule ? the program’s first season of competition ? are expected to be released in the near future.
