JAGUAR SOCCER FALLS TO FLORIDA INTERNATIONAL 4-1 IN MIAMI

Miami, Fla. ? The University of South Alabama soccer team fell to Florida International 4-1 Friday in Sun Belt Conference action.

“As good as we played last week, it was very disappointing to come out and play as flat as we did tonight,” USA head coach Mike Varga said. “We didn’t play with the energy we needed to compete in conference. Hopefully we can turn it around and be ready to win and compete on Sunday.”

FIU (2-10-2, 2-3-2) took a 1-0 lead at the 20:54 mark of the first half when Kassandra Sorzano netted a goal from the right side of the box.

The Golden Panthers doubled their lead in the 48th minute of the second half when Claudia Cardenas scored from 10 yards out on an assist from Sorzano.

FIU extended its lead to 3-0 at the 59:44 mark of the second half on Cardenas' second goal of the match.

Florida International took a 4-0 lead at the 65:08 mark on an unassisted goal by Mayara Bordin.

USA senior Carly Williams scored the Jags lone goal of the match in the 82nd minute.

FIU outshot South Alabama 17-7 in the game. The Golden Panthers attempted 10 shots on goal, while the Jags attempted three.

USA (4-9-2, 2-3-2) returns to action Sunday with a SBC contest against Florida Atlantic. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. (EST).
