JONESBORO, Ark. ? The University of South Alabama soccer team rebounded from a Friday night loss with a 1-0 victory over Arkansas State, Sunday. The Jaguars improved to 6-3-1 on the year and 1-1 in conference play. The Indians fell to 3-6 and 0-2 in the Sun Belt.
“We would have liked to be 2-0 in the conference, but this a tough conference to go on the road and win,” head coach Mike Varga said. “We are happy to be 1-1 in the conference after two road conference games and look forward two home games coming up.”
Sam Stocker provided the only goal the Jaguars needed on a Liz Clark assist. The goal was Stocker’s third on the year and Clark’s third assist. The shutout was the third on the year for goalie Kelsie Langford.
“Hopefully with conference games at home coming up we should have a good week of practice,” Varga noted. “We look to play well next week at “The Cage.”
South Alabama returns to “The Cage” for a Friday night match against Middle Tennessee and Western Kentucky Sunday afternoon. The game against the Blue Raiders is at 7 p.m., while the Hilltoppers match is 12:30 p.m.
