USA GOLF FINISHES IN SECOND; BURNS WINS

MOBILE, Ala. ? The University of South Alabama men’s golf team finished the final round of the USA Jaguar Invitational in second place after shooting 284 Tuesday and 839 for the tournament at Azalea City Golf Club. Junior Daniel Burns won a one-hole playoff and garnered his first collegiate victory after carding 13-under par 203.

“Obviously, for our first tournament 24 under-par is a very good score and I am very happy with the way the guys played and competed,” said head coach Ben Hannan. “Daniel played extremely well and I am excited that he won his first collegiate tournament.”

Behind Burns, true freshman Jack Hiluta finished his first 54-hole tournament shooting one-under par 71 and 211. Senior Jonny Caldwell turned in even-par 72 and sophomore Marc-Etienne Bussieres scored 73. Juniors Greg Gowen and Dan Swomley carded 74 and 75, respectively.

Middle Tennessee held its’ day one 13-stroke advantage after recording 284 and took the team title, while Kennesaw State finished in third place turning in 863. Eastern Michigan finished in fourth with 863, while three teams finished tied for fifth recording 866.

Middle Tennessee golfer Kent Bulle finished in second place after shooting 13-under par 203. Michael Tulacz of Kennesaw State finished in third with 206, while Chas Narramore of Middle Tennessee and South Florida golfer Tyler Hitchcock each shot 209.
