MOBILE,
Ala. ? The University of South Alabama soccer team defeated Mississippi Valley
State 5-0, Friday night
at “The Cage.” South Alabama was able to put
in two early goals before a two hour rain delay suspended play. USA roared back
with three goals after the delay.
“It was a great start to the game for us, two goals in four
minutes,” head soccer coach Mike Varga said. “We still need to take advantage
of what the opponents give us though.”
Sophomore Tiara Smith scored two goals on the night, one
each half. Smith’s first goal came off a rebound of her own shot, while the
second was another unassisted goal, as she dribbled through traffic to put the
ball in the back of the net.
“Tiara was dangerous because they (MVSU) could not match her
speed,” Varga said.
Liz Clark, Michelle Leppert and Amelia Milne each added a
goal a piece. USA hits the
road Saturday as they travel to Hammond,
La., taking on Prairie View
A&M at 5 p.m.
