NEWPORT NEWS, Va. ? After having its six match win streak snapped one day earlier, the South Alabama women’s tennis team rebounded with a 6-1 victory over Old Dominion on Sunday.  With the win, USA improves to 14-8 in dual match play, while ODU falls to 15-5.

The Jags picked up dominant doubles wins at the Nos. 1 and 3 positions to clinch the point and take the early 1-0 match lead.  The Jags’ team of Adrianna Solarova and Sylvanie Spangenberg defeated the Lady Monarch’s team of Charleen Haarhoff and Fernanda Luiz, 8-1, while USA’s Michaela Babicova/Dijana Stanic took down Daniela Cohen/Barbara Costa, 8-2.

South Alabama continued its dominant performance during the singles portion of the match taking five out of the six points. With her three set win at No. 1, Solarova improved to 16-4 on the spring, while Babicova improved to 18-4 on spring with her win at the No. 2 position.  USA’s Stanic also won her 12 straight singles match with a 6-3, 7-5 over ODU’s Barbara Costa at the fifth spot.

USA will play its final regular season road match of the season on Thursday when the Jags travel to Southeastern Conference foe Auburn.
