SOUTH ALABAMA WOMEN?S TENNIS CLOSES OUT FOUR MATCH ROAD SWING WITH 5-2 VICTORY OVER MIDDLE TENNESSEE

MUFREESBORO, Tenn. ? The 49th-ranked University of South Alabama women’s tennis team closed out its four-match road swing with a 5-2 victory over Sun Belt Conference foe Middle Tennessee Monday afternoon at the Buck Bouldin Tennis Center on the Blue Raider campus.

With the win, USA improves to 10-7 on the season and wins its third straight match, while Middle Tennessee drops to 4-10 on the spring.  South Alabama will next host in-state rival Troy on Friday at 1 p.m. at the Bruce David Lubel Memorial Tennis Courts.

For the second straight day, South Alabama came out and grabbed the early 1-0 match lead when the Jaguar women swept all three doubles matches.  USA’s doubles teams of Adrianna Solarova/Sylvanie Spangenberg and Michaela Babicova/Dijana Stanic were each 8-5 victors over their Blue Raider counterparts.  The Jag duo of Rita Frietas and Jelena Krivacevic also had little trouble at the No. 2 position when they defeated Ann-Kristin Siljestrom and Stephanie Parkinson 8-2.

In singles action, USA expanded its lead out to 3-0 thanks to a pair of straight set victories by Babicova (6-0, 6-0), playing at No. 2, and Stanic (6-1, 6-0), playing at No. 5.  Middle Tennessee’s Marlene Chemin finally got the Blue Raiders on the scoreboard when she defeated South Alabama’s Yana Bokareva, 6-1, 6-1 at No. 3.  Freitas, however, clinched the match for the Jags with a two-set win over her own (6-2, 6-0) at the sixth spot over Pooja Kommireddi.  Solarova also picked up a three-set victory of her own at the No. 1 position to round out the scoring for USA.
