MOBILE, Ala. ? The South Alabama softball team could not complete the sweep of visiting North Texas Sunday, falling 1-0 at Jaguar Field. With the loss, the Jaguars fall to 15-10 on the year and 2-1 in Sun Belt Conference play, while North Texas improves to 8-20 overall and 4-2 in conference play. USA won both decisions Saturday 1-0 and 4-3.
North Texas scored the only run of the game with a two out solo home run by Kadie Platt in the third inning putting the Mean Green up 1-0. USA’s junior Kait Chernomaz got the first hit of the game for the Jags in the bottom of the third and was moved to second on a nice sacrifice bunt by sophomore Corey Race. Sophomore Tara Donaldson lined a ball to the left side, but UNT’s shortstop Katya Muller made a nice play to end the scoring threat.

Jaguar freshman Beth Pilgrim (4-3) went the distance allowing just one earned run and three hits, while striking out three. UNT’s Ashley Lail (5-7), who lost both decisions Saturday, came back Sunday with a shutout, allowing just two hits. Lail walked five and struck out six.
