LADY JAGS FINISH TIED FOR FOURTH AT ANN RHOADES INVITATIONAL

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The University of South Alabama’s women golf teams’ four tournament winning streak ended Tuesday as it tied for fourth at the Ann Rhoades Invitational at Bent Brook Golf Club. The Lady Jags rebounded from their worst round of the season by firing a 305 team score. Birmingham-Southern won the tournament with a 36-hole score of 600, while BSC’s Jill Stupiansky clinched medalist honors carding a 148. Stupiansky defeated Lady Jag Sara Marti for the individual title in a one-hole playoff.

“Regardless of winning and losing we didn’t play up to our potential,” said T.J. Jackson. “This could be a wakeup call for us to identify our mistakes and capitalize on them.”

USA was led by Marti shooting an even par 72 and a second place finish. Seniors Elin Andersson and Michelle Toth fired rounds of 73 and 76, respectively. Sophomore Darah Newell scored 84, while fellow classmate Shirley Harvey turned in an 86.

“The top three played solid, but we didn’t play the end as solid as we wanted,” said Jackson. “We need to get ready for our tournament and go forward.”

Jacksonville State finished behind BSC turning in a team score of 614, while Arkansas State finished in third carding 619. USA and Belmont finished tied for fourth both carding 621.

Arkansas State golfer Christine Ryckman finished in third behind Stupiansky and Marti, turning in a five-over par 149. Toth and Portia Abbott of Jacksonville State finished tied in fourth both firing six-over par 150.
