Lakeland, Fla. ? One current and two former Lady Jag golfers have gained conditional status for the 2008 Duramed Futures Tour. Former letterwinners Susanne Jepson and Michelle Toth and current-senior Elin Andersson all shot below 87 last week at the Futures Tour Qualifying Tournament at Cleveland Heights Golf Course. All golfers that shot below 87 at the qualifying school gained non-exempt status for 2008.
“I thought all three of the golfers represented South Alabama really well and I am proud of the way they played,” head coach T.J. Jackson said. “Elin played some good golf and she is right on track to continue playing after college.”
Andersson shots rounds of 74, 75, 75 and 77 to finish tied for 70th place. Jepson and Toth missed the 54-hole cut with scores of 232 and 235, respectively. All three players will compete on the Tour as amateurs and with the non-exempt status, with Andersson receiving the most opportunities because of her scores and her top-90 finish.
