USA SOCCER LOSES IN DOUBLE OT

MOBILE, Ala. ? The University of South Alabama soccer team held out the top team in the Sun Belt Conference for 108 minutes, but Western Kentucky was able to pick up three points over the Jags with a 1-0 victory Sunday afternoon. South Alabama (7-4-1) fell to 2-2 in the conference, while the Topper’s (9-1-1) improved to 4-0 on the year.

The Jaguar defense once again held strong as they controlled the high-powered Western Kentucky offense. Goalie Kelsie Langford, coming off a 15 save performance against Middle Tennessee, held the offense in check with 12 saves. Western Kentucky gained the victory on a Mallory Outerbridge goal with two minutes left in the second overtime. Outerbridge slipped through USA’s defense and beat goalie Langford for the decisive goal.

South Alabama returns to the pitch Friday October 12th at Denver and match results can be accessed at usajaguars.com.
