MOBILE, Ala. ? The University of South Alabama women’s soccer team had three players honored by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America as scholar athletes. Seniors Jenn Edgar and Karrie Johnson and junior Shoshana Sevel were honored as 2006 NSCAA/Adidas College Women Scholar All-South Region.
“I couldn’t be more proud of Karrie, Jenn and Shosh,” said Jaguar head coach Mike Varga. “They epitomize what our program is about. We strive to maximize our potential on and off the field. These three student athletes have put in a lot of time and effort and have made tremendous sacrifice to do well on the soccer field and in the classroom and I am happy that they are being recognized for their hard work.”
Johnson, a speech pathology major earned a 3.93 GPA, while Edgar had a 3.43 GPA and is majoring in criminal justice. Sevel had a 3.46 GPA, while majoring in physical therapy. USA was one of just six Sun Belt schools who had players recognized and Edgar, Johnson and Sevel were among only 10 other SBC players awarded.
