MOBILE, Ala. ? A double overtime goal in the 107th minute by North Florida’s Elizabeth Gorman gave the Ospreys a 1-0 win in the second game of the 2006 KELME Port City Classic on Friday night at The Cage. With the loss, the Jaguars fall to 0-5 on the year, while North Florida improves to 3-1.
After a number of fine efforts by the Jaguars in the second overtime to put the ball in the net, the Ospreys countered and scored the game winner. USA had a season-high 12 shots and nine on goal, while North Florida had 20 shots and 12 on goal.
Jaguar freshman Kayla Pratt had a career-best five shots all on goal, combined with two shots by sophomore Carly Williams, freshmen Sam Stocker and Amanda Douglas. Jaguar sophomore goalkeeper Kelsie Langford had a season-high nine saves.
The Jaguars return to action on Sunday at 10:30 a.m. when they face Cleveland State in the third game of the Port City Classic.
In the early game Nicholls State posted a 1-0 win over Cleveland State with a late second half goal. Nicholls State will battle North Florida at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday.
