JAGUARS FALL 3-0 TO LSU AT THE CAGE

MOBILE, Ala. ? A hat trick by LSU’s Michelle Makasini proved to be too much for the Jaguars on Friday night in a 3-0 loss to the Tigers.  USA falls to 1-6 on the season, while LSU improves to 4-4.

Makasini took a ball from Katherine Lagow at the top of the box and fired one of her six shots past sophomore Kelsie Langford eight minutes into the contest.  Makasini converted on a corner kick in the 35th minute as she received the corner kick from Leeza Iver for a 2-0 lead.

The game remained 2-0 at half.  Langford had three saves in the opening half and the Jaguars benefited from one team save.

The Jags came out in the second half with more enthusiasm as freshman Sam Slover made her first appearance of the season.  Slover led the Jaguar attack down the field for one of the better scoring opportunities on the night.  Freshman Sam Stocker fired a shot that LSU’s Valerie Vogler was able to make a play on and deny the Jags the goal.

Makasini tallied her first career hat trick and LSU’s first hat trick since 2003 in the 53rd minute to conclude the scoring.
