USA WOMEN'S GOLF TO HOST 2006 LADY JAGUAR INVITATIONAL

Ala. - The University of South Alabama women's golf team
will host the 2006 Lady Jaguar Invitational Monday and Tuesday at
the Azalea City Golf Course. The two-round tournament is scheduled
to get underway with Middle Tennessee, Winthrop and Western Carolina
scheduled to tee off at 8 a.m. on Monday. The Lady Jags will begin
tournament action at 8:40 a.m. along with New Orleans and Jacksonville
State.
The Azalea City
Golf Course is a par-72, 5,821 yard course.
Last season, South Alabama tied for fourth in the
18 team field after firing a two round 621. MTSU took home top team
honors (602) with a two stroke victory over McNeese State. The Blue
Raiders' Taryn Durham carded rounds of 71 and 72 for a tournament
total of 143 to earn medalists honors.
The Lady Jags
are coming off of a third place finish at the Birmingham Southern
Shootout held at Bent Brook Golf Club. Juniors Michelle Toth and
Sara Marti led the Jaguar women for the tournament finishing third
and sixth, respectively.
The 20-team
field includes SBC members MTSU, UNO, Arkansas State, and Troy,
along with host USA. Also in the field are fellow future conference
members Florida Atlantic and Louisiana Monroe as well as regional
foe Southern Miss.
