JAGS BOW OUT AT WILSON/ITA SOUTH REGIONAL TENNIS CHAMPIONSHIPS

TUSCULOOSA, Ala. - Saturday was a tough day for the Jags at the 2006 Wilson/ITA South Regional Tennis Championships, as all three singles players were defeated after solid tournament performances.  The South Alabama women's tennis team will look to bounce back in their final fall appearance, the North Florida Classic, November 10-12 in Jacksonville, Fla.

Adrianna Solarova, the No.6 seed in the "A" draw, began the day with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Georgia Tech's Christy Striplin.  Later, in the quarterfinals, the Jag junior lost to Georgia Tech's Kristi Miller in straight sets, 6-3, 7-5.  Solarova, ranked 41st in the nation, is now 8-2 on the fall.  Miller is ranked No.2 in the country and will move on to the finals to face the tourney's No.4 seed Natalie Fraizer (No.21 in the country) of Georgia.

In the consolation round of the top draw, Michaela Babicova battled Csilli Borsanyi of Florida through three sets before giving way, 5-7, 6-4, 6-3.  Babicova won once and lost twice during the championships, bringing her fall singles record to 8-2.

In the "B" draw, Dijana Stanic took on Kimber Redfern of Florida A&M in the round of 16.  The senior won the first set and then yielded the final two to make the end result 1-6, 6-4, 6-2 for Redfern.  Stanic, who was the No.2 seed in this section, went 1-1 in singles play on the weekend. The Lady Rattler, Redfern, advanced to Sunday's championship of the draw to face Jil Hasternath of Auburn.
