TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Day-two of the 2006 Wilson/ITA South Regional Tennis Championships was a hectic day of action due to Thursday's severe weather, but the University of South Alabama women's tennis team faired well, with all three singles players advancing to compete on Saturday. Two rounds of the "B" single draw and doubles draw were played on Friday at the University of Alabama Tennis Center, as well as the second round of the "A" draw to make up for the rain delay.

Adrianna Solarova defeated Alabama's Shelley Godwin in three sets, 6-1, 6-7, 6-1, to move on to the round of 16.  The sixth seed in the "A" draw will face Georgia Tech's Christy Striplin, an upset winner over No.9-seed Monika Dancevic (7-5, 4-6, 6-1).  That match is scheduled for Saturday at 12:30 p.m.

Having lost in Thursday's action, Michaela Babicova began Friday in the consolation round of the "A" draw.  Making the most of her second chance, Babicova eased past Florida A&M's Nicole Pye, 6-0, 6-2.  The sophomore will play Csilla Borsanyi of Florida at 11:30 p.m. on Saturday.

In the "B" draw, No.2-seeded Dijana Stanic was a straight sets victor over Troy's Nicole Shaw (6-0, 6-3).  Stanic moves on the face unseeded Kimber Redfern of Florida A&M in the third round.  Saturday at 1:30 p.m. is the scheduled time for their singles match.

Stanic and Babicova were busy on Friday, competing in two doubles matches as well as their singles action.  The Jaguar duo won their opening round match against the aforementioned Striplin, of Georgia Tech, and her partner, Amanda McDowell, 8-3.  In the second round, however, Troy's team of Annabella Bares and Stephanie Vieria continued their upset streak.  After dispatching of the No.8 seed of Amanda Craddock and Whitney McCray, also of Georgia Tech, Troy held off South Alabama 8-6.  The loss ends the doubles portion of the tournament for the Jags as there is not a consolation round for the pairs.
