JAGS FALL 3-0 TO FLORIDA ATLANTIC ON FRIDAY NIGHT

BOCA RATON, Fla. ? The University of South Alabama women’s soccer team fell 3-0 to conference newcomer Florida Atlantic on Friday night.  The Jaguars drop to 4-11 overall and 2-5 in the Sun Belt Conference.  The Owls improve to 6-7-2 and 3-4 in conference play.

 

Florida Atlantic scored early in the first half on a loose ball off a corner kick that was put in by Natalie D’Oria in the 11th minute.  The Jaguar defense held strong, not giving up another goal until the 39:15 minute mark when Monique Cabrera fired a shot from Beckie Ware past sophomore goalkeeper Kelsie Langford.

 

The Jaguars had one shot in the opening half and Langford recorded one save.

 

FAU scored the only goal of the second half in the 71st minute on a cross outside the box to Christina Chang who dribbled in and fired the ball past Langford for a 3-0 lead that they would not relinquish.

 

Sophomore Cortney Stewart and freshmen Sam Stocker and Amanda Olivas each had one shot for the Jaguars.  Two goalkeepers saw action for the Jags as freshman Jessica Ori closed out the contest, playing the final 12:45 minutes.  Langford played 77:15 minutes recording four saves.

 

The Jaguars will travel to Miami, Fla. to face Florida International on Sunday at noon central time.
