MOBILE, Ala. - South Alabama women's volleyball head coach Nicole Keshock announced Tuesday afternoon that Stephanie Cutter from Seigal High School in Murfreesboro, Tenn., has signed a national letter of intent to play for the Lady Jags in 2006.

"We're very excited to have Stephanie come to South Alabama because she is a very intense competitor and doesn't like to lose," said Keshock. "She is a very scrappy player that plays with a lot of fire and spunk and has fun while she is doing it. I think those traits are some things that our team needs. I feel she will bring a lot of the intense attitude to our team that we need to have on a consistent basis."

Cutter, a libero/setter who has lettered the past two seasons at SHS, is a two-time all-District and all-Region player. As a senior, she posted 1,260 assists and was named both the District and Region Most Valuable Player, as well as being named to the First Team all-Mid-State team in Tennessee. This past season, Cutter helped Seigel advance to the semifinals of the 3A State Playoffs with a 52-12 record. As a junior, SHS finished with a 48-15 mark after advancing to the 3A quarterfinals.

Prior to transferring to SHS, Cutter lettered her freshman and sophomore seasons at Boone County High School in Florence, Ky. As a sophomore, she was named the team MVP, as well as earning all-District and all-Region honors. She was also named to the Northern Kentucky Division I - All Opponent Second Team and Kentucky Honorable Mention all-state team in volleyball that same year.

Cutter, in the off season, plays for the IMPACT club team out of Nashville.

USA is coming off a 9-18 season and 2-10 mark in the Sun Belt Conference. The nine wins by the Lady Jags this season tripled their win total from a season ago and is the most since the 2001 season.
