Steele’s first fall with the Crimson Tide saw the team finish 14-1, while they were 11-2 in 2019 following a victory over 14th-ranked Michigan in the Vrbo Citrus Bowl.

In addition to aiding in the team’s weekly run game plan — including short-yardage and goal line situations — he was responsible for recruiting as well as monitoring the academic performance of his group.
He spent three years coaching at Murray State, working with tight ends during the 2014 campaign before serving as the Racers’ offensive line coach the next two seasons. While a graduate assistant at LSU from 2011-13, Steele worked on a staff that helped the Tigers to a 33-7 overall record during that stretch which included reaching the BCS national championship game his first season at the school as well as a victory over Iowa in the Outback Bowl his last.
Steele was a four-year letterwinner at Valdosta (Ga.) State, where he was a member of teams that claimed the NCAA Division II national championship in 2007 and the Gulf South Conference title three seasons later. After earning his undergraduate degree from the school in 2010, Steele would go on to receive his master’s degree from LSU in 2013.
