Messer got off to a blistering start to the 2016 season, going 13-for-18 (.722) to help lead the 25th-ranked Jaguars to a 5-0 record. The Mobile, Ala., native scored seven runs in five games and drove in three, while leading USA in stolen bases, going 4-for-5. Messer slugged .778 and recorded an on-base percentage of .750 last week, while twice tying USA’s single-game record of four hits. She is currently the Sun Belt Conference’s leader in batting average, on-base percentage and hits.
