Kotze recorded a total of 21 points at the Sun Belt Conference Championships this weekend — one shy of matching the most scored by an individual in the competition — to help USA place fourth out of nine teams in the competition. The junior claimed the discus on Sunday, breaking his own school and league record with a 59.72m toss that also surpassed the old meet standard set in 2005 and was the 12th-best in the nation this spring. Kotze posted personal-best marks in the hammer throw and shot put as well, finishing third in the former with a distance of 60.88m and fourth in the latter after a mark of 16.34m.
