Beard recorded a career-high 15 strikeouts, tied for second-most in USA single-game history, in her second career no-hitter against UT-San Antonio last weekend at the 2014 Mississippi Gulf Coast Softball Classic in Gulfport, Miss. Beard was three 3-0 in as many starts on the weekend, recording 36 strikeouts in 18 innings pitched – two Ks per inning – and scattering only a pair of hits and allowing no earned runs. The junior’s ERA dropped to 0.15 after her performance this weekend. Beard held opponents to a 0.34 batting average, and recorded complete-game shutouts against Ohio and UTSA while improving to 9-1 overall.
