Hassell helped South Alabama post a 3-1 record this past week, leading the way with 88 total digs for an average of 5.50 per set. She began the week with 13 in USA’s 3-0 victory over Nicholls State, including nine in the opening set to help USA rally for a 28-26 win. Against Mercer in the opening round of the Georgia State Invitational Hassell led the club with a then-season-best 26 dig performance, following up with 16 against Saturday morning.  In the final match of the tournament, she helped the Jaguars rally back from a 2-0 deficit against tournament host Georgia State by posting a career-high 33 digs as USA won the final three sets; the total equalled the second-highest mark in school history.  For her efforts, Hassell was selected the Sun Belt Conference Defensive Player of the Week.
