MOBILE, Ala. – With the start of the University of South Alabama women's basketball season on Friday, "Inside JagNation" sat down with senior guard Genesis Perrymond to record this week's episode of the official podcast of Jaguar Athletics.

Entering her final season at the collegiate level, the Lilburn, Ga., resident has recorded 363 points, 202 rebounds, 160 assists, 78 steals and 26 blocked shots over the last two years after sitting out the 2014-15 campaign as a redshirt.  She has 11 games with a double-digit point total highlighted by a career-best 21 on New Year's Eve last season against rival Troy while pacing the Jags in assists on 21 occasions.  Last year, she ranked third on the team in scoring (6.9 points per game) and was second in rebounding (3.8 rpg) while leading the squad in both assists (89) and steals (47).

In this episode, Perrymond explains why she thinks this season's team will be successful, what she has worked on improving in the offseason, what she believes she does best when she is playing well and what her routine is on a game day.  She also recalls how old she was when she first played basketball, what other sports she competed in growing up, when she first thought about earning a scholarship and competing at the collegiate level, and why she chose to come to South Alabama.  Other topics of the podcast include what she wants to do professionally after earning her degree in biomedical sciences in the spring and which member of her family — a member of the National Basketball Association's Hall of Fame — played a role in her development in the sport.
