- Ellis returns off a season that saw the center break the program single-season block record and become the all-time leader in blocks in program history.
- Ellis is currently third all-time in the Sun Belt Conference in blocks with 231 blocks and is just 49 away from becoming the all-time leader in conference history.
- Ellis returns as the leading scorer from last season averaging just over 10 points per game during the 2016-17 season.
- Guillory played in all 31 games last season, starting in 10, while Centers played in 30 and started in 9 contests.
- Antoinette Lewis is the lone newcomer in the post-position.

Head Coach Terry Fowler
- On the leadership Elliss brings to the team: "Having Chyna come back as a four-year starter brings plenty of experience to our program. She is one of the reasons we are good defensively. She anchors the back, gives a lot of confidence and is a rim-protector."

- On what to expect from LaNeetra Guillory: " LaNeetra is a four-year player for us like Chyna, who gives us quality minutes. She had a good spring and great summer, and I am looking forward to see her taking the next step this season. She brings great athleticism and has a good skill set. I think she is going to put it altogether this year."

- On India Hall's skill set:  "India is another player we like to use as a defensive anchor. She has the ability to bang with the bigger players in our league and has a nice 12-15 foot shot."

- On getting Christen Carter back: "Christen has been injured the last two years. She is a mature young lady and we look forward to getting her leadership back on the court. She is a glue-type player who we look to get quality minutes out of."

- On Kennedi Centers as a player: "Kennedi is an energy player who does a good job of drawing charges and rebounding the basketball. She gives us extra possessions through her hard work and hustle."

- On the addition of Antoinette Lewis: "I am excited to have Antoinette here. She can shoot the three and she is improving every day. She is a good, strong, low-post player and rebounds the ball extremely well."

- On Lewis getting to practice against Ellis to improve her skill set: "Antoinette gets to go against one of the best every day. It's not only good that she gets to go against her every day, but they get to play together as well. When they are on the floor together it gives us an entirely different look. There is no better test than going against a former Defensive Player of the Year every day during practice."

Chyna Ellis
- On what she is trying to improve for this season: "I'm trying to be more consistent in in the post and around the perimeter to improve my overall game."

- On the depth of the team at forward and center: "I think we have some of the best post-players in the conference. If we play right, we will be hard to stop this year."

- On what she and her fellow point guards have to do to limit the turnovers that hurt last year's team:  "You know when you have a team with so much talent it comes to down to how use it. I believe we have that this year. It be can be good and bad, but I think we have the right people and we will be good this year."

- On what she has done to become one of the best rebounders and shot blockers in program history: "I've always tried to work hard and do what I can to help the team win. I believe it's my role grab rebounds and protect the paint and that's what I have to do to help us win."

- On what it would mean to break the Sun Belt Conference block record: "It would be amazing. I didn't expect anything like this when I began my career here. So receiving all of these honors has been amazing."

- On her goals for the season: "I want to win the Sun Belt this year. It is my ultimate goal along with making a postseason tournament."
