MOBILE, Ala. – Following the completion of the 2015-16 regular season, the opening round matchups for both the University of South Alabama men's and women's basketball team have been announced by the Sun Belt Conference office for this year's league tournament set to be held March 9-13 at the Lakefront Arena in New Orleans, La.  All games in this year's conference tournament will be aired on ESPN3.

The South Alabama women enter the championship tourney as the fifth seed after ending the regular season with a 15-14 overall mark and an 11-9 Sun Belt record.  USA will open up play on Wednesday at 2 p.m. when it takes on fourth-seeded Troy (17-12-12-8 SBC) in the quarterfinal round.

The Jaguar men also earned a berth in this year's conference tournament as the eighth seed, finishing the regular season with a 13-18 overall record and a 7-12 mark in league play.  USA will take on fifth-seeded Georgia Southern (14-16, 10-10 SBC) in the first round on Thursday at 5 p.m.

Fans can purchase an all-tournament pass for $75 or single session (two games) for $15 from the South Alabama ticket office.  Click here for women's ticket information and click here for men's ticket information.  Students of Sun Belt institutions are admitted free with valid school ID.

There will also be a student bus available to the first 50 students who sign up for both the women's and men's opening round games.  The buses will meet in the baseball parking lot of Stanky Field.  The bus on Wednesday will depart at 10:30 a.m. for the women's game and then return to Mobile following the game.  The bus for the men's game will depart on Thursday at 1:30 p.m. and return after the game.  For more information by checking out the SGA's twitter (Click Here) and facebook (Click Here) pages.  Students can sign up for the buses by clicking here.

The Jag women swept the season-series versus Troy, defeating the Trojans 75-71 in Troy on Jan. 26, and then rallying back to win 65-63 three weeks ago in Mobile.  The Jaguars scored eight unanswered points and forced the Trojans into a pair of turnovers during the final minute, 32 seconds of the contest.  Colby Davis' jumper with 1.6 seconds remaining was the game winner.

South Alabama enters the league tournament winners of six of its last eight to close out the regular season.  The winner of the quarter final contest between USA and Troy will advance to take on the winner of No. 1 seed Arkansas State / No. 8 seed Appalachian State on Friday at 11:30 a.m.

Like the women, the South Alabama men swept the season series versus their opening round opponent, defeating Georgia Southern 64-58 in Statesboro and 80-76 in Mobile. After a big GS rally in Mobile saw the Eagles tie the game late, the Jaguars went 4 for 4 at the free-throw line in the final 30 seconds to earn the win.

The winner of that game will advance to take on fourth-seeded UL Lafayette on Friday at 5 p.m.
