RICO SANDERS TO MISS REST OF SEASON WITH INJURY

MOBILE, Ala. Rico Sanders has suffered an ACL injury and will be out for the rest of the 2010-11 season, University of South Alabama men’s basketball head coach Ronnie Arrow announced Wednesday.

Sanders, a sophomore guard, was injured in practice in early February and has missed the last three games.

“It’s a shame any time you get injured, but especially late in the season after you’ve put in the effort and training to have a good year,” Arrow said. “We hope the operation goes really well and he’s able to have that knee 100 percent as soon as possible.”

A transfer from Alabama Southern Community College, Sanders is averaging 3.0 points in 21 games this year. The College Park, Ga. native has started three times and is fifth on the team with 14 3-pointers.
