JAGUAR TRACK & FIELD’S BERGE 21ST AFTER FIRST DAY OF NCAA DIVISION I CHAMPIONSHIP HEPTATHLON

EUGENE, Ore. – University of South Alabama sophomore Emilie Berge collected 3,217 points and is ranked 21st after the first four events in the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships heptathlon.
 
Her best finish of the day was in the high jump; she tied for 11th and picked up 842 points after clearing a height of 1.69m (5-06.50).

NOTES
-Berge opened the competition with a 14.17-second time (+0.3) in the 100m hurdles. She finished 20th in the event and collected 954 points.
-The sophomore's 11.34m (37-02.50) throw was the 17th-longest in the shot put event and earned her 618 points.
-She ran the 200m dash in 25.93 seconds (+0.8), finishing 21st and gaining 803 points. 

UP NEXT
Berge will close her season with the final three heptathlon events tomorrow. The long jump begins at 1:30 p.m., followed by the javelin and 800m.

On Berge's performance in the opening day of competition… "Emilie did not have the performance she wanted today, but it wasn't bad either. Tomorrow is a new day and she is a competitor, so I think she will do well."
