MOBILE, Ala. – Athlon Sports released its preseason All-America football teams on Tuesday, and the University of South Alabama's Corliss Waitman was among the specialists recognized.

A rising senior from Milton, Fla., Waitman was chosen preseason third-team All-America by the organization, which also has listed him preseason first-team all-Sun Belt Conference this offseason.

Last fall, Waitman averaged a school-record 45.24 yards per punt with 26 kicks inside the opponent's 20-yard line and 21 punts of 50 or more yards; that included posting an average of 45 yards or higher in seven of 12 contests with at least two punts inside the 20 nine different times.  After helping the Jaguars rank seventh nationally and first in the league in net punting, he was a first-team all-Sun Belt selection and was chosen honorable mention on the inaugural All-American Punter team while also standing third on the latter organization's top five list of Coffin Kickers with a 89.86 rating.

Entering his final season at the collegiate level, Waitman has the best mark in program history — minimum 50 kicks — with a 43.38 punting average.
