MOBILE, Ala. – Jermaine Williams has been hired as Assistant Athletic Director for Facilities & Game Operations at the University of South Alabama it was announced on Thursday.

Williams joins the Jaguar staff after serving as Director of Facilities and Event Operations at UNC-Greensboro the last three years.

"South Alabama has had proven success academically and athletically, I want to be a part of that success while bringing some of my tools and knowledge to the athletic department to help us be even better in operations and facilities," Williams said.  "I'm very appreciative to [Director of Athletics] Dr. [Joel] Erdmann and Daniel McCarthy for allowing me the opportunity to be a part of South Alabama Athletics.  My wife, Shayla, and I are excited to be here in Mobile.  Everyone has been great thus far, we are happy to be joining Jag Nation."

In his role with the Spartans, Williams oversaw the day-to-day operations of competition and practice venues for Spartan basketball/volleyball, baseball, softball and soccer including scheduling and facility safety.  He also was in charge of event and concessions operations and access control management while also assisting in the management of the school's operations budget.

Prior to joining the staff at UNCG, Williams was Assistant AD for Facilities and Event Operations at Colorado Mesa University for six years, with his duties including running collegiate, professional, high school and club events in seven venues, overseeing scheduling of the Mavericks' facilities, and serving as the head of ticketing and concessions.  He oversaw live video streaming of 12 sports and design content for the arena's videoboard, and aided in marketing as well.

Williams' first full-time job after receiving his bachelor's degree in sports management from Greenville (Ill.) University was as an assistant to the athletic director at the University of Puget Sound, a position he held for two years.  He has also worked with multiple minor league baseball teams as well as the Charlotte Hornets' NBA G League affiliate, was a promotions volunteer at two NCAA Men's Final Fours and has worked the National Junior College Athletic Association Division I World Series since 2009.
