NEW ORLEANS – The Sun Belt Conference released its 2018-19 men's basketball league schedule on Tuesday, featuring an 18-game slate starting in early January.
All dates, save for two rivalry games against Troy, will be single games. The conference is using a mirrored schedule; the men's and women's teams will be playing the same school on each day at opposite venues.
The Jaguars will spend the opening weekend at home, hosting Appalachian State (Jan. 3) and Coastal Carolina (Jan. 5), then go out on the road to Arkansas State (Jan. 10) and Little Rock (Jan. 12).
South Alabama returns home to host Georgia State (Jan. 17) and Georgia Southern (Jan. 19), before going to Louisiana (Jan. 24) and ULM (Jan. 26).
A doubleheader vs. Troy (Feb. 2) opens a three-game homestand that includes games against Arkansas State (Feb. 7) and Little Rock (Feb. 9). That precedes a road trip that starts with Georgia Southern (Feb. 14) and concludes with Georgia State (Feb. 16) and a doubleheader at Troy (Feb. 23).
The home schedule wraps up at the end of the month with tilts against UT Arlington (Feb. 28) and Texas State (March 2), and the regular season finishes with road games at Coastal Carolina (March 7) and Appalachian State (March 9).
The Sun Belt Tournament starts March 12 with games at campus sites featuring teams seeded 7-10. The remaining eight teams will face off March 14-17 at Lakefront Arena in New Orleans.
South Alabama's non-conference schedule will be announced at a later date.
