THEY SAID IT
Head Coach Nick Brochu
On the win over Appalachian State: "I think we started really good in doubles. We were aggressive and took the lead. Then we got into a position to clinch doubles and it didn't go our way. We had two match points and couldn't close the door on them. We got a little tight and went into the tiebreaker relaxed. We did what were supposed to do, executed well and got the doubles point. I'm happy with how the guys reacted to the pressure. If doesn't work the first time, roll up your sleeves, go to work and try to make it happen."
Â
Looking ahead to Georgia State: "It's fun to play Georgia State. We played them twice last year, once in the regular season and then in the conference final. It's like a rematch from last year. We respect those guys. They are great competitors. When we played them it was a clean match. We are both great competitors. It's going to be an awesome match. We know each other well. We've been looking forward to this match all season and I know they've been looking forward to this match as well. I think tomorrow we will be going indoors. So it's going to be very loud and an awesome Sun Belt final."
Â
On what it would mean to win a championship: "This is what you work for the whole season. It even starts during the summer. Last year wasa great final. All 12 players played hard. It came down to the last match and point. They beat us 7-5 in the third. As soon as you lose, you start thinking about the following year. You want to put yourself into a position of a rematch and this is what we've been doing. We went through a hard first round and today was hard because we had all the pressure as the favorite. App State played well as a program and are always improving. We took care of business today and put ourselves in a position of what we want, to win a championship. It's going to be a battle."
