NEW ORLEANS – University of South Alabama sophomore Emilie Berge received her first Sun Belt Conference Women's Field Athlete of the Week honor after a second-place finish in the heptathlon at last weekend's Tiger Track Classic.
Berge earned 5,479 points in the event to jump to the top of the Sun Belt standings and rank fifth in the NCAA Division I East Region. The score is 13th on the NCAA Division I performance list. She earned top-four finishes in six of the seven events, including a win in the 800m. It is the second-highest heptathlon point total in Jaguar history.
The Jaguars will compete in the Mt. Sac Relays in Torrance, Calif. April 19-20 and the War Eagle Classic in Auburn, Ala. April 20-21.
