MOBILE, Ala. – The University of South Alabama football team begins spring practice on Thursday, but before returning to the field junior quarterback Dallas Davis sat down for this week's episode of the official podcast of Jaguar Athletics, "Inside JagNation."

Davis talks about how the Jags have been preparing for spring drills since the start of the semester in January, his approach to learning the new playbook of first-year offensive coordinator Kenny Edenfield, how he prepares to compete to earn the right to start at quarterback for South and goals for the spring season.  The junior also discusses returning from shoulder surgery in time for the 2017 campaign, his view of and approach to leadership and what he did to try and earn his teammates' respect after coming to campus in 2014, his memories of football while growing up and what he loves most about the sport.

Last fall, Davis saw action in nine contests — starting five — and completed 100-of-175 pass attempts for 1,355 yards and eight touchdowns.  He paced the Sun Belt Conference in total offense in 2016, his first season as the Jaguars' starter, also ranking second in passing yards per game and sixth in pass efficiency rating after connecting on 198-of-349 passes for 2,706 yards and 11 scores while running for an additional 245 yards and three touchdowns.  Following his first-ever start at the collegiate level, a 21-20 win at Mississippi State he helped orchestrate by going 24-of-34 passing for 285 yards and two scores, Davis was named the Sun Belt Offensive Player of the Week.
