FLUKER BREAKS, SWAN TIES SCHOOL TRACK & FIELD RECORDS AT SAMFORD INVITATIONAL

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The University of South Alabama indoor track & field all-time record books saw several changes today as sophomore Autavia Fluker broke the women's shot put record and junior Olivia Swan matched the first-place women's high jump mark at the Samford Invitational in Birmingham, Ala. 

Fluker scored a 15.05m (49-04.50) in the women's shot put to pass Latifah Johnson's 2013 mark (14.94m (49-00.25)) and move from second to first in the all-time Jaguar record books. This effort also moves Fluker from fourth to second in this season's Sun Belt standings. Swan matched Nicole Knox's 2007 all-time Jaguar record in the women's high jump with a 1.78m (5-10.00).

NOTES
-Megan James posted a season-best 3.8m (12-05.50) to claim first place in the women's pole vault and move from sixth to third in the Sun Belt Conference this season. Jordan Friz placed third in the event with a mark of 3.65m (11-11.75).  
-Emile Berge earned second place in the women's high jump event with a 1.75m (5-08.75) and third place in the long jump with 5.43m (17-09.75).
-Cierra Hedrick earned a third-place finish and jumped to second in the Jaguar record books with a 7.62 in the women's 60m. 
-Angeline Smit and Esherika Hawkins posted personal-best scores of with a 14.48m (47-06.25) and 13.50 (44-03.50), respectively, in the women's shot put. 
-Ethan Boyd moved from seventh to sixth all-time with a 17.98m (59-00.00) effort in the men's weight throw.
-Niel Giliomee placed third in the men's pole vault with a 5.21m (17-01.00). 
-Larry Lombard ran a personal-best 1:55.21 in the men's 800m race.
-Miguel Strydom claimed fourth place in the men's one mile race with a season-best time of 4:19.39. 
-Michaela Preachuk placed second in the women's weight throw with a 18.09m (59-04.25).  
-Rafael Scott placed third in the men's 60m with a time of 6.81.  

UP NEXT
The Jaguars will compete Feb. 19-20 at the Sun Belt Indoor Championships in Birmingham, Ala.
