MOBILE, Ala. – With the University of South Alabama indoor track and field season set to open on Friday, Rafael Scott visited to record this week's episode of "Inside JagNation," the weekly podcast of Jaguar Athletics.
A two-time second-team All-American in the 60-meter dash at the NCAA Men's Indoor Championship, the native of Lucedale, Miss., owns the school record in the race while also ranking among the top three on the program's all-time performance list in the outdoor 100 meters as well as the indoor and outdoor 200-meter dashes. Scott has won the 60-meter race at the Sun Belt Conference Indoor Championship each of the last two years, adding all-league accolades in the 200 meters at the event in 2016, and he qualified for the NCAA East Regional Preliminaries in the 100- and 200-meter dashes during the outdoor season — making him the first member of the men's team to participate in multiple events at the meet since 2012 — that spring also.
In addition, Scott received his undergraduate degree from USA at the end of the fall semester.
