“INSIDE JAGNATION” — SOUTH ALABAMA ATHLETICS PODCAST — EPISODE 60

MOBILE, Ala. – The guest on "Inside JagNation" — the official podcast of the University of South Alabama Department of Athletics — this week is senior midfielder from the Jaguar soccer program Tiina Trutsi.

The native of Tallinn, Estonia, has appeared in all 10 matches this fall, starting eight times, and has scored a career-high three goals to go along with an assist while helping South build a 5-4-1 overall mark that includes a 3-0 record in Sun Belt Conference action.  Named the league's Offensive Player of the Week for the first time in her career on Sept. 5, she entered the campaign with a goal and four assists in 58 appearances the last three years as the Jags claimed both the SBC regular-season and tournament titles each season while going 52-12-4 (79.4%) overall and 21-4-2 (81.5%) in the conference.

In this edition of the podcast Trutsi explains what she did to prepare for her senior season, whether or not she felt a sense of urgency coming into her final year, adjusting to a new coaching staff and what she believes is the key to the team's 3-0 Sun Belt start.  She also discusses when she decided she wanted to come to the United States to play at the collegiate level, why she chose to attend South and the differences between living in Estonia and Mobile.

Other topics in this episode include her experience playing for Estonia's national team, why she began playing the sport, her goals in soccer and what she wants to do professionally after her playing career has concluded.
