MOBILE, Ala. – University of South Alabama Director of Athletics Dr. Joel Erdmann announced Tuesday the hiring of Jacob Ludwikowski as Assistant Athletic Director for Development.
He comes to Mobile from New Orleans, where he served in multiple roles for the Privateers for nearly five years.
"Jacob comes to us with a well-rounded background in collegiate athletics. Â In his most recent external position at the University of New Orleans he demonstrated success in key areas related to fundraising and revenue generation," said Erdmann. Â "He comes highly recommended from people at UNO and throughout the New Orleans community who elaborated on his professional capabilities along with his strong communication and interpersonal skills. Â He will assume the lead role in planning and executing our athletics development program."
Ludwikowski began at UNO as Associate AD for Compliance and Student Services in September 2012, a role in which he was responsible for monitoring the school's initial and continuing eligibility, financial aid, gender equity, Title IX administration and admissions.  In addition to overseeing a staff of 10 individuals, he served as sport administrator for the volleyball, sand volleyball, and men's and women's tennis teams, supervised the ticket office — including group ticket sales and promotional events — and was part of committees that hired head baseball, volleyball, track and field, and strength and conditioning coaches.
In March of this year Ludwikowski became the Privateers' Associate AD for External Relations, with his duties shifting to include oversight of athletics development, corporate sponsorships, marketing, ticket sales, game day operations and capital projects. Â While spearheading efforts to raise $400,000 in capital projects, his production helped UNO increase basketball season ticket sales by 750%, corporate sponsorships by 318% and private donations 96%, and he played a key role in negotiating an exclusive department apparel contract with Under Armour.
Ludwikowski, who started in athletics as an intern at Iowa State in January 2011, received his bachelor's degree in political science from ISU in 2007 and a Juris Doctor degree from Tulane in 2015. Â He and his wife, Wyndi, reside in Mobile.
