STITELER TO COMPETE FOR WOMEN’S TENNIS IN 2017 ORACLE/ITA MASTERS

MOBILE, Ala. – Junior Alexandria Stiteler (Bradenton, Fla.) will be representing University of South Alabama women's tennis in the 2017 Oracle/ITA Masters from Sept. 21-24 at the Malibu Racquet Club.

The tournament will have a double elimination 32-player draw for singles, and a single elimination 32-team mixed draw, with the men's and women's player of each conference playing on the same team.

After being selected as the Sun Belt Player of the Year as a freshman, Stiteler was invited to participate in the 2016 Oracle/ITA Masters but was unable to compete.

"I am very excited because I got invited to this last year and wasn't able to go," said Stiteler. "It's exciting to get to go and compete with the other people who are the best in their divisions."

Last spring, Stiteler went 15-5 in singles at the No. 1 position, finishing the season with seven straight wins. Additionally, she picked up a victory against Alabama-Birmingham's Pardis Kianoush, ranked No. 88 by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.

Stiteler was also named the Sun Belt Player of the Year for the second straight season, going undefeated against Sun Belt opponents.

"I've had a lot of experience playing at high-level events, so I will be in my element," Stiteler said.
