JAGUAR BASEBALL SUMMER UPDATE: 7/3

MOBILE, Ala. – Thirteen University of South Alabama baseball student-athletes are competing in summer ball across six different leagues.

Travis Swaggerty, who started the summer in the Cape Cod Baseball League (CCBL) with the Brewster Whitecaps, was named to the USA Baseball National Collegiate Team roster for the Cuba series on Sunday. Swaggerty opened the Cuba series by going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run scored in a 5-4 win. He led the U.S. in batting average (.417) and stolen bases (4), and tied for the team lead in on-base percentage (.500). The U.S.-Cuba series, scheduled for five games from July 2-7, will be streamed live on USABaseball.com.

Brendan Donovan is batting .162 with one double, four RBI and three runs scored in 13 games played with the Hyannis Harbor Hawks of the CCBL. Donovan has hit safely in three of his last four contests entering the week. Drew LaBounty has appeared in two games with the Bourne Braves of the CCBL, and scored one run in each of those two games. LaBounty has not played in a contest since June 20 at Cotuit.

Three Jaguars are competing in the Valley Baseball League for two different teams. Dylan Hardy is hitting .286 with two doubles, one triple, nine RBI, 13 runs scored and nine stolen bases in 13 games played with the Front Royal Cardinals. Carter Perkins, a teammate of Hardy's at Front Royal, is batting .231 with one double, seven RBI and two runs scored in nine games played. Hunter Stokes is batting .200 with one double, four RBI and four runs scored in eight games played with the Strasburg Express.

Three Jags are playing in the Northwoods League for two separate clubs. Wells Davis is batting .136 with one double, one home run, four RBI, seven runs scored and one stolen base in 15 games played with the Mankato MoonDogs. In nine relief appearances, Addison Reed has struck out 11 batters in 12 2/3 innings pitched as a teammate of Davis' with Mankato. Colton Thomas is hitting .313 with three doubles, one triple, one home run, eight RBI, nine runs scored and four stolen bases in 18 games played with the Thunder Bay Border Cats. Thomas has hit safely in 12 of 18 contests, including consecutive multiple-hit games.

Michael Sandle and Noah Michael are competing with the Wilmington Sharks in the Coastal Plain League. Sandle is batting .253 with four doubles, two triples, seven RBI, 15 runs scored and seven stolen bases in 24 games played. Michael is hitting .219 with one home run, two RBI, five runs scored and two stolen bases in 15 games played. On the mound, Michael is 1-1 in seven appearances, two of which were starts, with 13 strikeouts in 18 2/3 innings pitched.

Griffin Rivers is batting .243 with one double, two triples, one RBI and 10 runs scored in 12 games played with the Hoptown Hoppers of the Ohio Valley Baseball League. Rivers has struck out three batters in 2 1/3 innings pitched on the mound.

Reid Frazier is 0-1 with one save in nine relief appearances for the Hendon Braves of the Cal Ripken Collegiate Baseball League. Frazier has recorded 22 strikeouts against six walks in 18 innings pitched with a 1.00 ERA. The right-hander has not allowed a run in seven straight appearances, which spans 13 2/3 innings pitched.
