MEN’S TENNIS TO PLAY IN THE 2018 ITA NATIONAL TEAM INDOOR CHAMPIONSHIP REGIONALS

TEMPE, Ariz. – The University of South Alabama men's tennis team will participate in the 2018 ITA National Team Indoor Championship after choosing to be the No. 4 seed the Florida Region with the 37th pick in the ITA Kick-Off Weekend Draft on Thursday.

Florida earned the opportunity to host by finishing the season ranked No. 14. Joining the Jaguars and Gators in the region are USF and Pepperdine. The No. 2 seed, the Bulls finished the season No. 23 and had the 8th pick, and the Waves had the 34th selection.

"We wanted to pick a site where we play outside," said USA head coach Nick Brochu. "We are excited to go to Florida. We feel that we will be competitive with all three teams. We haven't played those teams in awhile and it will be a great challenge and experience."

Teams in the 15 regions will play from Jan. 26th-29th. The No. 1 team in each site will face the No. 4 team, and the No. 2 team will face the No. 3 team. Two matches are guaranteed - the winners/losers will play the following day. The 15 schools that win both of their matches at these events will be invited to play in the Feb. 16-19, 2018 ITA National Team Indoor Championship hosted by the University of Washington.

The Jags lose three seniors off the 2017 squad, including two-time Sun Belt Conference Player of the Year Tuki Jacobs and this year's SBC Newcomer of the Year Juan Cruz Soria, but will return four other members. Included in the returnees are Clement Marzol, the conference freshman of the year, and Loic Cloes, a conference singles second team and doubles first-team selection. Cloes sported a 23-3 record in singles action while Marzol owned a 23-6 record.
